Tezu – 62 projects passed for 31 GP
A total of 62 plans/projects were passed for 31 Gram Panchayat (GP )segments of Lohit under Wakro, Sunpura, Tezu circle during a District Planning Committee meeting held in the DC’s conference Hall, here on Thursday for finalization of Gram Panchayat Development Plans for the year 2015-16 and 2016-17. Lohit DC-cum-Chairman District Planning Committee, Danish Ashraf who chaired the meeting stressed on immediate implementation of the scheme for 2015-16 and asked the District Panchayat Development Officer to release the fund into the respective joint Account of Member Secretary and Chairperson Gram Panchayat through online transfer for effective utilization. He further suggested that schemes should be on need-basis for immediate benefit of the public. All the HoDs, SDO, Gautam Hazarika, ZPMs, ZPC/Member Secretary Gram Panchayat/Anchal Samity were present in the meeting.
Namsai – initiative to prevent water borne diseases
The district administration has started initiative to prevent water borne diseases aftermath of the monsoon flooding in Mahadevpur by distributing safe drinking water and other water purifying chemicals among the affected people. The officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Namsai in coordination with 186 Battalion of CRPF are distributing potable water and water purifying chemicals, like chlorine and Iodine tablets among the flood affected people of Mahadevpur I & IV. PHED assistant engineer B. Khamyang said the department has started providing safe drinking water with help of CRPF water tanker and chemicals in relief camps from Tuesday.
Aalo- Amar Jawan Kargil Victory Day
The 1 Bihar Regiment of Indian Army is going to observe Amar Jawan Kargil Victory Day at general football ground, Aalo on July 26 next. A wide range of programme including patriotic song competition, essay writing, extempore speech on Kargil war will be conducted to mark the day. The regiment has, meanwhile, appealed the civilians to be a part of the daylong programme for paying rich tribute to the martyrs of Kargil war.
Tirap- Commerce stream starts at Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College, Deomali
The State govt has accorded approval for introduction of Commerce stream as well as Education subject at under-graduate level at Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College, Deomali in Tirap district from the academic session 2016-17. The students can now pursue BCom and can opt for Education as one of the subjects at BA level; the admission process for which has already started in the college. The need for the Commerce stream had increasingly been felt among the students of the area viz. Tirap, Longding and Changlang. This also helps the college grow in volume, said Dr Milorai Modi, Principal of WR Govt College in a release here.
