RGU student murdered in rented apartment at Lekhi

A girl identified as Migrik Lomi, aged around 24 yrs, was found brutally murdered at her rented apartment at Lekhi village, Naharlagun on Monday.

The body was discovered this morning by neighbours of the deceased and later they reported it to nearby Nrjuli police station. the deceased , hailed from Kabu village, under West Siang District was pursuing MA in Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU).

When enquired officer in charge (OC) Nirjuli, Inya Ete said after receiving information at around 7 am this morning, a police team was immediately rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

Ete disclosed that deceased body was recovered with multiple injuries marks on her head, face and hands.

When we searched the room there was no sign of forced entry or any sign of robbery as everything in the room was left untouched by intruders.

City SP, Dr. A Koan however clarified that as of now they cannot say anything about the case a case of murder has been registered vide under IPC- NRJ/Ps case no-29/17 u/s 302 against unknown persons at police station, Nirjuli.

SP said that investigation is being started from all angles and clues are being collected which shall lead to the arrest.

Meanwhile Galo Students’ Union (GSU) and West Siang District Union (WSDSU) also express shock over the gruesome murder of Migrik Lomi and condemn it in the strongest term and at the same time strongly urge the Police authorities to launch speedy investigation so that culprits could be nabbed. They said that such incidents have been recurring in the capital complex area which has instilled a kind of fear psychosis among the minds of the denizens. The Home department should take due note of it and initiate stringent measures to contain such happenings so that life and property of the citizens could be secured.

vehemently condemn murder of Mirgik Lomi a student of RGU last night at Lekhi Village.  We strongly appeal concern SP to expedite the probe and nab the culprit(s) to grant justice to the victim and her bereaved family.

We are deeply shocked over recurrence of such incidents in capital and extend  condolence to victim’s family.

Home department  must  come out  with a effective policing stream. Capital is gradually becoming into a hotspot of crimes and other anti social activities.
