Pul requests for sanction of fund for Highways and Flyovers

Chief Minister Kalikho Pul asked the Chief Engineer, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways of North East Region, V K Rajawat, to immediately expedite the sanctioning of fund for the 4-Lane Highway Projects from Itanagar to Banderdewa and for three Fly Overs in the State Capital. He also requested him to immediately release fund for the on-going repairing and maintenance work in the state capital and rest of the highway projects.Itanagar

He categorically said that as the soil along the Itanagar to Banderdewa and Itanagar to Holonggi roads are loose in nature and are prone to landslides in rainy season, he asked the engineers of the MoRTH to strictly monitor the project implementation and checked for its quality and to ascertain that the prescribed standard norms of highways are maintained.

He assured the visitor that the local people of the state capital are fully supporting the 4-laning of Itanagar to Banderdewa highway and there would be no interference from them in execution of the highway project. However, he requested him to adequately compensate the local people as per the prescribed rates uniformly.

Chief Engineer, V K Rajawat informed that the projects for Roads and Flyovers will be sanctioned within one month time as and when the DPR is received from the state govt and will enable the state govt to start the work by coming September.

He also informed that considering the strategic locations and sensitiveness of this border state, Centre govt has handed over two important border roads from Joram to Koloriang and Dimwe to Hawai to Border Road Organizations (BRO) on the request of the Chief Minister during his meeting with Prime Minister and Minister of Transport & Highways on April 7 last.

He assured him that the Ministry is fully satisfied with the progress of the Itanagar to Banderdewa maintenance works that has rapidly pick up recently. He gives assurance to the Chief Minister that as soon as he gets back to Delhi, the fund for maintenance and repairing work of the Itanagar to Banderdewa road will be released.

“The centre is happy with the appreciable cooperation it gets from the state govt of Arunachal Pradesh” said Rajawat and added that centre govt is now more committed to support the state govt in its endeavour to develop the road net works in the state.

He also informed that the work on improvement of Doimukh to Harmoti road is also going on satisfactorily.

He was accompanied by Ashwani Kumar, Regional Officer (MoRTH), Itanagar and Bora Ete, Chief Engineer (Highways).
