PM Modi meets mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged in the Double Ascent Expedition of mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa symbolising closing of the expedition in PM Office in New Delhi on Monday .

Congratulating the  new world record holder PM Modi stated that the nation is proud of her achievement and he is happy to share the joyous moment with her and her supporting team members. He was particularly happy that a woman mountaineer hailing from a remote border town of Arunachal Pradesh created two world records in one go. He further stated that mountaineering fraternity around the world is looking at India and her magnificent achievement with awe!

He also stated that mountaineering & adventure sports in India will get a new fillip and he  will look into every aspect to promote and develop the same.

 Speaking to the media after the flag-in programe, Anshu stated that the PM Modi was full of smiles and received her warmly. On learning about my daughter Passang Droma securing 10 of 10 in the recent board exam, he conveyed congratulations and good wishes to her. PM Modi is sending a personel congratulatory letter to her!

The flag in ceremony was attended by MoS Home Kiren Rijiju, Col H S Chauhan president Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and Tsering Wange president Arunachal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Association (AMASA).

 Anshu Jamsenpa’s Double Ascent Expedition was earlier flagged off by HH The Dalai Lama from Gauhati on 2nd April last. She broke the earlier world record set by a Nepali mountaineer Churim Sherpa by climbing the world’s highest peak Mt Everest twice in just 5 days. She had earlier climbed Mt Everest twice in 10 days the year 2011. With this ascend, she has become the only Indian woman in the world to summit Mt Everest 5 times.
