Pema Khandu Conveys his greetings on National Unity Day

Arunachal Chief minister Pema Khandu hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mooting the idea of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu has greeted the people on occasion of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) celebrated across the country on October 31 commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

In a message here this evening, Khandu said observance of the day provides an opportunity to re-affirm inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand actual and potential threats to unity, integrity and security of the country.

“In India’s Independence struggle, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played a major role in organizing peasant’s movements on Gandhian principles in Gujarat and during the Quit India Movement. His biggest contribution to the country was his role in integration of over 500 princely states with India during 1947-49,” said Khandu paying rich tributes to Sardar Patel, who also became the first Deputy Prime Minister and the first Home Minister of India.

Khandu hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mooting the idea of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

The Chief Minister called upon the people to reiterate their faith on the principle of unity in diversity as the strength of India. He also called upon the civil servants to re-dedicate themselves to nation building on the birth anniversary of the person, who is known as the patron saint of civil servants of India for being instrumental in establishing the modern all-India civil services.
