Ojing Taying murder case: Family members meet with CM, submits memorandum

Family members of late Ojing Taying along with the members of North East Human Rights Organization (Arunachal Unit) called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu today at his office and submitted a memorandum. In this joint memorandum, both family members and NEHRO has served three months time frame to solve the case and arrest the culprits involved in the murder of late Ojing Taying.

Speaking to media, Jeeting Taying Father of Late Ojing Taying said that despite repeated plea and submission of memorandums state government and its machinery has failed to provide justice to them. ‘Moreover, Investigating Officer of the case is kept on changing which is another reason for the delay of the case.  As per report, more than seven IO has been changed in the last two years’ lamented the father.

“This is my fourth meeting with Chief Minister but every time I got only assurance after assurance, now I am waiting for the judgment day’ lamented the father. Moreover, expressed hope that this time justice will be delivered to his son late Ojing Taying.

Ojing Taying, was a prominent students’ leader of East Siang District was brutally attacked by some miscreants at Niti Vihar Road on June 10, 2017 and later succumbed to his injuries at GNRC Guwahati after nine days on June 19. Accordingly, a case was registered at Itanagar PS Vide PS.Case No.146/2017 U/S 341/326/302/34 IPC but as the investigation by state police SIT was not progressing satisfactorily, the state government transferred the case from SIT to CBI. But CBI declined to take up the case citing it to be ‘very simple in nature’.

General Secretary, NEHRO (AP) Buteng Tayeng who accompanied with the family members also slammed the state government for its failure to solve the case despite passing of more than two years. “Today we have submitted a memorandum serving three months time frame. So we hope that some positive development will come-up this time’ added Tayeng.

He also questioned the government for keeping the family members in dark regarding the rejection of the case by CBI. “I have personally visited the CBI Head office on May last where I came to know that the CBI has rejected the case.

While responding on Rs 3 lakh reward to the informer, Tayeng stated ‘though we appreciate the initiative of the government but we don’t think that one lure of cash award the case will come to conclusion. State the government should come clear on the issue, either they surrender and close the case or solved the case immediately.

Meanwhile, he also requested the Chief Minister to establish one modern Forensic Science Laboratory in the state so that such cases of crime could be solved within a stipulated time frame.
