Nido Tania murder case: 4 convicted by Delhi Court

The verdict comes over 5 years after Late Nido Tania was brutally attacked in a market at Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi on 29th January, 2014, triggering widespread protests.

All the four accused of Late Nido Tania murder case convicted under Section 304 Part I/34 IPC in the Court of Additional Session Judge Sandeep Yadav, South East District Saket Court New Delhi. They are  Farman, Pawan, Sunder and Sunny Uppal have been convicted.

The verdict comes over 5 years after Late Nido Tania was brutally attacked in a market at Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi on 29th January, 2014, triggering widespread protests.

Farman is sentenced to simple imprisonment for 10 years with fine of Rs. 20,000. Pawan is sentenced to  imprisonment of 7 years and a fine of Rs. 20,000. Sunder is sentenced to imprisonment 7 years and a fine of Rs 20,000. Sunny Uppal who was involved in the incident of beating the deceased is sentenced to imprisonment of 3 years and a fine of Rs 20,000.

However, convict Sunny Uppal has intended to file an appeal against this judgement.

Nido Tania,  Son of then Congress legislator Nido Pavitra and Marina Nido,  was studying in Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar.  On the day of incident he had reportedly gone to Lajpat Nagar with his three friends during evening and was looking for an address. Someone allegedly about his hair that annoying him and he broke a glass door at the sweet shop and the incident escalated.
