Mohilary presented the council budget of Rs 2021 crore

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary on Wednesday presented the council budget of Rs 2021.72 crore  with a surplus of Rs 43.13 crore for the year 2017-18 before the house.

Presenting the Budget on the first day of the two-day BTC Legislative Assembly Budget session that at the BTC Legislative Assembly House, Mohilary, who is also the head of the Finance department, said that the Council is committed to achieve the growth target as per the Plan allocation.

Mohilary also underlined the major thrusts being given by the BTC with active support of State government in the financial year 2017-18. “State government has earmarked Rs 25 crore for Bodoland University, Kokrajhar, Rs 10 crore for BB Engineering College in the name of ‘Tejasvi Navaditamastu’ funds for infrastructure development of professional colleges and universities to be spent over a period of three to four years. Moreover, BTC government has decided to acquire additional land for BTC Secretariat and Helipad attached to BTC Secretariat, for which an amount of Rs 23.00 crore has been earmarked during 2017-18 under SOPD,” he said.

In his budget speech, Mohilary said his council had given priority on certain important sectors which were keys to the fast development of the region. In Mohilary’s budget of 2017-18 for 39 transferred subjects, the PWD (Roads) gets Rs. 43.32 crore and PWD (Building) gets Rs. 5.25 crore. Similarly, P&RD is allocated Rs. 68.77 crore, Education Rs 45 crore, Forest and wildlife Rs. 47 crore, WPT& BC Rs. 67.90 crore, Land and Revenue department gets Rs. 27.50 crore, Disaster Management Rs. 10 crore, Health and Family Welfare gets Rs. 27.05 crore, PHE gets Rs. 6.25 crore, Urban Development Rs. 9 crore, Agriculture and Aril. Engineering Rs. 15 crore, Irrigation Rs. 29.31 crore, Water Resources gets Rs. 13.35 crore, Animal Husbandry Rs. 6 crore, Soil Conservation Rs. 5.50 crore, Dairy Development Rs. 1 crore, Fishery gets Rs. 5.35 crore, Cooperation gets Rs. 25.62 lakh, Commerce and Industry Rs. 5.20 crore, Handloom and Textile Rs. 10 crore, Sericulture Rs. 3.85 crore, Transport gets Rs. 3.30 crore, Tourism Rs. 3.25 crore, Economics and Statistics Rs. 48 lakh, Food and Civil Supplies gets Rs. 10 lakh, Legal Metrology Rs. 35 lakh, Sports and Youth Welfare gets Rs. 5 crore, Cultural Affairs gets Rs. 2.64 crore, Library Services Rs. 85 lakhs, Museum and Archeology Rs. 1.37 crore, Information and Publicity Rs. 2.10 crore, Labour gets Rs. 48 lakh, Employment Rs. 35 lakh and ITI-Rs.50 lakh, Excise gets Rs. 30 lakh, Social Welfare Rs. 6.60 crore, Printing and Stationary Rs. 2.50 crore, Market and Fair gets Rs. 2 crore, GAD gets Rs. 43.48 crore.

At the same time he informed that in order to meet the critical infrastructure gap to usher the development in this area, the govt of Assam has allocated fund of Rs 20000 lakh as development grants and Rs 2500 lakh to strengthen infrastructure under education sector in the current State Budget of 2017-18 over and above of allocation of fund for State Own Priority Development (SOPD) to BTC.
