MET predicts heavy rain in northeast in the next two days

The Met department warned of heavy rain in the northeast in the next two days. In the weather bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, the Met office predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday and Monday.

It further stated that in Guwahati and its neighbouring areas, generally cloudy sky would prevail with chances of rain and thundershowers on Sunday, while moderate rain accompanied by thundershower is likely to occur at many places over Arunachal Pradesh , Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the next 24 hours.

“Available data indicate that light to moderate rain occurred at most places over Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and at many places over Nagaland and at a few places in Assam with isolated heavy rain in Assam and light rain at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours,” said the daily weather report of RMC.

It must be mentioned here that the MET department alert has come at the time when the  situation in the flood-hit areas of northeaster states was beginning to improve with the water level going down and the affected heaving a sigh of relief
