Mein participates in the Birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein while participating in the 142nd birth anniversary of freedom fighter Birsa Munda at Lekang on Sunday said, “ hard work is the mantra for economic development of the community”.  Appreciating the Adivasi community for their contribution towards social and political development of the Indian society, he termed their involvement in different spheres of life commendable. He urged the community to find ways to improve their education ratio and to take up education as their base.

He lauded the community in striving to maintain cordial relationship and friendship with other tribal communities of state and appealed to avoid alcoholism for economic sustainable and better future of their family.

Mein said that youths must not only look for white collar jobs but must engage themselves in some private sectors for solving the problem of unemployment. The government has set up skill development training programmes in various places for transforming the youth from unskilled to skill so that they get full benefit of such skill development programmes.

He said that recently many govt and private colleges have come up all over the state including Poly technique College, Arunachal University of Studies in Namsai District too and called upon the youths to avail the opportunity.

While referring to the reoccurrence of flood in the area due to over flooding of Noa Dihing River, Mein assured to repair the damaged bridge, culvert and roads. He asked the line departments to keep these works on top priority and start working on war footing to complete the repair and maintenance work by February next.

He further said that the proposal for plugging of the river has already been submitted and is under consideration to divert river water into its mainstream and to prevent it from flooding into the township area. However, he said natural calamities are beyond the control of human being. He further said that he is committed to bring over all development of the constituency.

Responding to the memorandum submitted on the occasion, Mein assured to construct a a cultural hall at Kumari Adivasi.

In his speech, DCM also paid tribute to the great soul on his birth anniversary and highlighted about the contribution of Great Freedom Fighter Birsa Munda and recalled his courage and efforts towards empowerment of the tribal communities.

Deputy Commissioner, R.K.Sharma while paying tribute to Birsa Munda said to follow his ideology and work for the upliftment of society especially in the field of education.

Earlier, Mein was given a rousing reception by the Adivasi community of Lekang at Kumari Adivasi, Namsai District on his arrival to grace the occasion.

The birth anniversary of Birsa Munda was held in a befitting manner. It was organised by All Adivasi Student Association of Arunachal Pradesh (AASAAP) and Adivasi Kalyan Sangha (AKS).

The programme commenced with lighting of lamps and laying of floral tributes to the great leader by the dignitaries. Colourful Cultural programme presented by the Adivasi Folk dance enthralled the crowd.

Soneswar Minj, President Celebration Committee enlightened the gathering on the life history of Birsa Munda. General Secretary AASAAP, Fabian Tamba, Former General Secretary AKS Ajit Lohar and Chairman of the meeting Bisnath Indwane also spoke on the occasion.
