A 17 year old school girl allegedly  and forcefully abducted on March 27 while she was returning from School. Victim’s parents alleged that a man of about 40 years old had forcefully taken their daughter while she was returning from school on that day.

The case was registered at the Phulbari Police Station late on Monday. According to the FIR filed by the mother of the victim, the minor girl was returning from school on Monday when she was waylaid by her landlady, Ruksana Begum (50), whose house she had taken on rent. The land lady then handed over the girl to her eventual kidnapper, identified as Sahinur Mondal (40), who was waiting in an auto rickshaw. The girl was then allegedly taken by Mondal and his friends to Assam.

Police sources said a search had been initiated to find and rescue the school girl. This incident happened at the village of Chibinang, close to Phulbari in West Garo Hills.

A police team already went to Dhubri in Assam, where the kidnapper is suspected to have taken the victim. However, all those named in the FIR, barring Ruksana Begum, have fled their homes and are currently absconding.

On the other hand the victim’s family, however, has expressed their unhappiness over the police not questioning the landlady on her role in the crime. “She was seen helping the kidnapper in the crime and will be aware of where she has been taken, but the police is yet to question her.

Interestingly, Sahinur had earlier proposed marriage to the teenage girl, which was rejected by the family of the victim. The family had stated then that they wanted their daughter to continue her studies. “This must have prompted the kidnapping, though we are looking at all angles,” said the police source.
