Kiren Rijiju inaugurates Orang-Kalaktang- Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga Road

Union Minister of State for Home affairs Kiren Rijiju  inaugurated 158 kilometers Orang-Kalaktang- Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga road on Sunday. On the occasion reiterating the central government’s commitment for development of the border areas, Rijiju said that roads and telecommunication are of vital importance for development of any area. There is a need for strengthening the road networks in this strategically located state.

In a simple programme held at Rupa by the BRO, Kiren congratulating the BRO for their commitment and drive, hailed them as the sentinels of the nation. He lauded the efforts put in by all the ranks and file of the organization in completing the OKSRT road and the Rupa Bridge and hoped that the same work culture would be maintained.

Appreciating the Shertukpens for their ingenuity and being deep rooted to their culture and tradition, Kiren opined that the other tribes of the state which have been a victim of the western culture onslaught should emulate them.

Among others, the programme was attended by CE (P) VARTAK, Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop, Commander 14 BRTF, ex-minister DK Thongdok, ex-MLA Naresh Glow, HoDs, public and PRI leaders, BRO personnel and villagers of Rupa
