Khandu expresses shock at loss of Property in Kerang Village Blaze

Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed shock and grief over the reported fire mishap at Kerang Village in Siang district that burnt down several dwellings on May 11 last.

In a statement today, Khandu said that as per media reports 28 houses were gutted in the unfortunate incident which is a tremendous loss of property and life-shattering episode of the villagers whose houses were burnt. He, meanwhile, has sought detail report of the incident with correct facts and figures.

The Chief Minister has already directed the district administration and the concerned department at the state level to assess the loss and immediately disperse relief grants as per norms besides processing for rehabilitation of the victims.

While thanking the almighty for no loss of human lives in the tragic incident, he also called upon philanthropists, NGOs, civil societies and individuals to reach to help the villagers of Kerang to rebuild their lives.

“I believe, as several times in the past, the human in us will rise once again and we shall all do our bit individually to help out our brothers whose lives have been jolted by the incident,” Khandu appealed.

He reiterated his appeal to all, especially villagers who leave for their fields at dawn to return only in the evening, to take care of their houses and see to it that all factors that may cause similar mishaps are done away with before leaving.
