In a wide-ranging speech covering development initiative by the state government, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today laid out his ‘Vision for development of Arunachal Pradesh’.  Addressing as resource person during the ‘Prashikshan Shivir’ celebrating the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Birth Centenary organized by the state BJP party, the Chief Minister began by highlighting key challenges facing the state in terms of infrastructure and connectivity.

Given the enormous potential of the state, he decided not to speak on challenges but on opportunities. He highlighted on huge forest resources of the state, potentials in mining, horticulture, agriculture and tourism.

To tap these opportunities, the budget 2017 has focused on youth employment, entrepreneurship and skill development with more than 50% coverage on these sectors,” said Khandu in one-day orientation programme for Ministers, MLAs, ZPCs, etc.

He informed on series of meetings held with community organisations, former legislators and different forums – that went on in the preparation of budget. To make the budget percolate to people, he informed on steps being taken through formation of committees and series of meetings with officials and party workers.

He also spoke to make Arunachal an organic state. Under this mission, he informed to take 3 years to make the state fully organic.

To address the unemployment issue, the state is working to provide alternatives to the youths, said Khandu. He informed that under Chief Minister’s Swalamban Yojana, which is proposed to be re-named as Deen Dayal Swalamban Yojana, the state government has worked out with banks to provide Rs 10 lakhs to 1 crore for to help entrepreneurs on 30% subsidy. He also informed that the state government is working to implement the CM universal health insurance scheme, which will be named after Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.

On ginger and  large cardamom production in the state, the Chief Minister informed that through Spice board, efforts have been made to give good prices for these agriculture produce. On success of such initiative, he informed that similar steps would be taken for other sectors to boost income of local people.

Informing on eight new railway routes being identified in the state, he said the Union Railway Minister will be in the state soon to officially launch the survey of these tracks.

The Chief Minister informed that state machineries and departments have started working on Vision 2022. Under that mission, special attention will be given to border areas to provide water, health, electricity and education facilities.

To fully realize these visions, he requested the Ministers, MLAs, party workers, to stay alert and to perform and urged for better coordination between the party and the government.

Informing on his accomplishments, Khandu informed that state government has cleared Rs 4000 crore financial deficits accumulated from the previous government. “Each March month, the state financial position showed negative balance, but this year through proper financial management, the state government has avoided such crisis,” he informed.
