Khandu declares open the celebration of ’40 glorious years of VKVs in Arunachal’

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today officially declared open the celebration of ‘40 glorious years of VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh” here at Indira Gandhi park. The Chief Minister began the celebration by lighting the lamp and by paying homage to Swami Vivekananda.

The 3-day event organised by Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Alumni Association (VKVAA) is being attended by more than 300 ex-students, student delegates from various VKVs, former teachers and life workers and members from Vivekananda Kendra.

The Chief Minister in his speech congratulated the VKV family in completing 40 years of its establishment in Arunachal when it opened its first school in Sher in 1977. He lauded the lifelong contribution made by teachers and life workers of VKV who took pains to open schools in remote areas of state when there were no basic public facilities. He said the state owes much to VKV for its vast pool of educated and qualified human resources. He assured that state govt will make every effort to strengthen the VKVs in Arunachal acknowledging that it had to operate on very poor financial conditions in earlier days.

In his advice to the students, Khandu urged them to lay strong foundation in education starting from lower classes. He said a strong root in education will help them in higher studies and prepare them for competitive exams later. He said the world today is very competitive and the students can’t waste their time, resources and energy in wrong companion and wrong influences. Khandu also urged the students to develop inner confidence so that they can pursue their dreams.

On the occasion, a mega dance representing various tribes of Arunachal was displayed by members of VKVAA. This was followed by joint band display by VKVs from various schools.

Later the Chief Minister had brief interaction with the former teachers and life workers of VKV who were invited from their native states especially for the celebration.

VK Vice President A Balakrishnan, Chairman VKVAA Pritam Taffo and Secretary General VKVAA Pelbang Tayeng also spoke on the occasion.
