Chief Minister Pema Khandu has vehemently condemned the ambush on 13 Assam Rifles by militants near Jairampur in Changlang district of the state today which led to martyr of two Assam Rifles Jawans.
Reportedly, militant groups ambushed 13th Assam Rifles convoy in between Jagun (Assam) and Jairampur (Arunachal Pradesh) today at around 11 AM. One of the martyred jawan is from Arunachal Pradesh and has been identified as Khamtai Wangsu from Pangchou Village under Longing district. The other jawan is said to be from Manipur.
While expressing deep condolences on behalf of the people of the State, the CM said, ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the bereaved families at this difficult time. The people of the North East and particularly Arunachal Pradesh will always remember the ultimate sacrifice of these brave personnel of the ‘Friends of the Hill People’.
Severely condemning the incident, the CM emphasized that all steps should be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Khandu announced ex-gratia from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as per government laid down norms to the next of the kith and kins of the martyred personnel.
Meanwhile the Army has launched extensive search operations and has been successful in neutralizing two terrorists from the group which had attacked security forces in the morning in which two Assam Rifle Jawans were martyred. Bodies of the two neutralised terrorist have been recovered along with a G3 Rifle and Pistol. Their Identity is yet to be established
It has to be noted that these terrorists have no consideration for the innocent citizens of the region because it is suspected that their primary aim was to cause attrition and disrupt the Pangsau Pass Festival held once in four years which had it’s last day today, it was during this time that their contact was established with the troops who were deployed on the road to provide security to the large number of attendees moving on the road and road domination, but because of this their evil designs were prevented from getting executed
