Khandu attends inaugural session of training on E Governance Leadership at San Francisco

“Chief Minister Pema Khandu attended the inaugural session of the training on E Governance Leadership for senior political and govt Executive organised by Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad at San Francisco USA held on 10th April 2018.”

V Ashok, Consul General of India in San Francisco, Prof Subhas Bhatnagar and Prof Rekha Jain of IIM Ahmadabad also attended the event.

The Chief Minister while delivering keynote address informed that Arunachal Pradesh is a tough state due to connectivity problem. He informed that the govt is working towards using IT to improve transparency and accountability. He also informed that inspired by the vision of PM, the govt is taking various steps to promote applications of IT in various departments. He urged the Honble Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs attending the training to initiate some innovative projects in the respective department and constituencies.

Participating in the training session V Ashok Consular General appreciated the govt for initiating such training programme on IT in San Francisco, which is known for developments in IT. He also expressed and suggested on ways Agricultural and Horticultural produces of Arunachal can be promoted and exported outside the country. He also expressed that there is huge potential for growth of tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.

Satya Gopal,  Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, explained detailed status of connectivity including Digital connectivity in Arunachal and informed that govt is committed to work on resolving various connectivity issues.  He also emphasized the importance and commitment of govt towards transparency.

The trainees later had close interactions with researchers and academicians on various topics in the University of California Berkeley. Among others Dr Daniel Wilson presented on behavioral sensing technology and Environmental Engineering. Prof Ashok Gadgil presented on Technology related to safe drinking water. Civil infrastructure. Prof Aprajit Mahajan presented on use of Machine learning to improve collection of taxes and minimizing evasions of taxes. Mr Noah Klugman presented on Energy Access and enabling technologies. Participants also interacted with the representatives of Planet Lab on the development of Agriculture and Horticulture through use of Satellite technologies.

The training, which has been going on since 5th April is organized by IT Department in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad, is attended by 9 parliamentary Secy and 3 MLAs and is led by Pema Khandu.

The main purpose of the training is to highlight the role of Political executive in implementation of IT initiatives and increase efficiency of the government for better service delivery to citizen.
