At last we have realized our dream of about twenty years,” said Chamrak Dol, a prominent resident of Raga when Befitting the 50th year of Boori Boot Yullo celebration at Raga Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that their demand for creation of a new district  KAMLA will be fulfilled within 2017

“Even if not in the immediate sitting of the Legislative Assembly, we will push it in the next Assembly. I am sure within 2017 the Kamla district will be born,” Khandu asserted.

Khandu Announced New district KAMLA within 2017“I have come for the first time to Raga to join Boori Boot. I assure to come again within this year to inaugurate the new district,” Khandu declared to a thunderous applause and war cries.

The Chief Minister admitted that personally he is never against genuine creation of new districts as it brings in self-governance and the administration nearer.

“Arunachal Pradesh started with only five districts. Due to the need of the hour and to bring administration to the doorstep of each community today we have 20 districts. This is a process for welfare and development of each region and community of the state,” he pointed.

Khandu, however, appealed the people to have patience as the process of creating a new district is lengthy and time taking.

“Even if not in the immediate sitting of the Legislative Assembly, we will push it in the next Assembly. I am sure within 2017 the Kamla district will be born,” Khandu asserted.

It is proposed to name the new district after River Kamla that flows through the region before joining River Subansiri near Dollungmukh. Nyishis of the area inhabited the fertile lands all along the Kamla since ages.

Congratulating the people on the joyous occasion of Boori Boot Yullo, the Chief Minister sought support, cooperation and blessings to run a stable government.

“Our government is in full strength. We just need your support to run it smoothly and bring in development,” he said.

Khandu also negated any misgivings on poor financial health of the state. He assured there is no dearth of funds and what is needed at the moment is patience and the determination to work.

“I agree financial status wasn’t good but the times have changed. And if you don’t believe me wait for the announcement of our new state budget, which will be placed in the Assembly very soon,” he said.

It must be mentioned here that since years people of the area covering Raga, Boa Simla, Tamen, Dollungmukh and several other hamlets stretching right from outskirts of Ziro in the lower side to Daporijo in the upper reaches have been demanding a separate district for overall development and efficient administration. The Nyishis inhabiting the area were always in a confusing state as administratively the area came under Lower Subansiri with headquarters at Ziro while its assembly constituency came under Upper Subansiri with Daporijo as its election headquarters.

Reiterating that the budget this year would be all-inclusive and participatory, Khandu informed that he would be calling a meeting of all community based organizations of the state next week and take suggestions for inclusion in the budget.

“Our motto is to take the confidence of each and every community of the state. We want to know how the community wants to develop. After threadbare discussions and taking in inputs from everyone, we will give a final shape to the budget this year,” he said while hinting that the forthcoming budget would give impetus on sectors like horticulture, agriculture and tourism for self sufficiency.

The Chief Minister called upon all, including sitting legislators as well as formers and leaders of every political party not to compromise with development of the state and welfare of the people.

“I am not a born politician and I don’t believe in divisive politics. As Chief Minister of the state I work with the motto that every region, every district, every constituency and every community, irrespective of political affiliations, gets equal share of development. I believe that when every part and community develops, our state will develop,” Khandu added.

Earlier on arrival the Chief Minister inaugurated a road, audience gallery, podium and priest’s house at the Boori Boot Yullo festival ground.

Also present on the occasion were Home Minister Kumar Waii, Parliamentary Secretaries Chow Zignu Namchoom and Likha Sayaa, Legislators Tage Taki, Paknga Bage and Tamar Murtem, the local representative, PPA Chairman Kameng Ringu and several former MLAs and dignitaries of the community.
