Kerala: Mein attends the event of release of ‘Daiva Dasakam’

Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein attended the release of ‘Daiva Dasakam’ the ten verses on God which was translated in 100 languages at Kodungallur in Thrisur District of Kerala on Saturday.

The Daiva Dasakam was also translated in Tai Khamti language of Arunachal Pradesh and the occasion was historic as a Guinness World Record was set by releasing it in 100 languages.

Mein said that heartfelt prayer and exquisite poetry composed by Daiva Dasakam was unique which still stands unparalleled even after existence of 100 years and it is accepted universally even today. He said his preaching for One Caste, One Religion and One God for mankind is pertinent in present context as it sends a message of universal brotherhood and oneness when the world is segregating day by day in the name of religions.

He said, “it is a proud moment for us as ‘Daiva Dasakam’ was also translated in Tai-Khamti Script, which is one of the language of one of the major  tribes of Arunachal Pradesh to which I belong”. He said that Tai Khamti is one of the tribe that has got its own script called Lik-Tai which is very rich and preserved in Buddhist monasteries and home in thousands of manuscripts.These manuscripts are read in great reverence in melodious intonation and taught to the inmates in monasteries.

While informing that the State of Arunachal Pradesh is home to 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub-tribes, Mein stressed on preservation and promotion of tribal language/dialect some of which are on the verge of extinction. He informed State Govt have taken significant measures to preserve and promote the age old identity of various tribes of the State and also sought the support and assistance of Govt of India.

He said that the event will herald a new beginning connecting the southern most State of India to the North easstern State of India. He emphasized that cultural exchange programmes should also be conducted from time to time for cultural integration which will strengthen the spirit of ‘unity in diversity’ among the people of different region.

He further said that Arunachal Pradesh has many things to learn and adopt from the advanced State of Kerala in terms of spice production and tourism development as the God’s own country is also famous for spice production and tourism.

He informed that State of Arunachal have also adopted State Industrial Policy to facilitate setting up of new business establishment and industry in the State and urged interested private companies and investor to feel free and safe to invest in the State of ASrunachal.

He also highlighted the tourism and agri-horti potentials of the State and invited the people of this part of the country to visit the State.

On the occasion, another Guiness World Record was created by performing Kerala Classical dance, Mohiniattam in which more than 1500 dancers performed in unison at Govt Higher Secondary  School Ground at Kodungallur.

Mein while going to attend the function visited the first church in India, Marthoma Church,  the first Mosque, Cheraman Juma Masjid (established in 629 AD) and  Bhagawati temple in Kodungallur. He prayed for the world peace and universal brotherhood.

Kodungallur is the place where the three major religions Christianity, Judaism and Islam are said to set their first step.

Among other prominent personalities of the State, Minister of Agriculture,  Kerala, V S Sunil Kumar,  MPs and MLAs were present on the occasion.
