Kanchanjungha Express linking Agartala with Sealdah started

The newly introduced 15660 Kanchanjungha Express today left Agartala for Sealdah(Kolkata) fulfilling long aspiration of the people of Tripura for a direct train service between the capitals of Tripura and West Bengal. Huge numbers of people today gathered at Agartala railway station to witness the starting of this service. All the berths earmarked for the passenger of Tripura were sold out almost instantly after announcement of the train. In the very first day 538 nos journey tickets valued Rs. 1, 74,455/- were sold from various counters within Tripura.

It may be mentioned here that Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu assured of a direct express passenger train service between Agartala and Kolkata while addressing general public in a meeting on 31st July, 16 at Agartala.

The 15660 Kanchanjungha Express which left Agartala today at 05-15 hrs. will reach Sealdah at 19-25 hrs tomorrow covering a distance of 1556 km at about 38 hours.
