Joint Exercise on Flood Rescue by Army and Civil Admin

The small township of Dharamtul on the banks of the Kopili river was abuzz today with intense activity, since it was the venue of a Joint Exercise  on Flood Rescue by Army and Civil administration. Exercise MEGH RAAHAT was conducted at Dharamtul from 11AM to 1PM through a joint initiative of Red Horn Division of Army and District Administration of Morigaon. The exercise aimed to ensure collective mutual benefit of all participants, who ranged from Army and SDRF personnel to local population including school children.

The objective of the exercise was to coordinate the efforts of all stakeholders for enhancing the disaster relief preparedness and cohesion between concerned agencies for efficient flood rescue and relief operations.

The exercise was conducted in two parts. The first part was a lecture and display on the role and organisation of various disaster management parties of Army and civil administration. The second part comprised of a live demonstration on various facets of coordinated rescue and relief operations by Army and SDRF teams.

The exercise was witnessed by DC, Morigaon and other senior dignitaries of Morigaon district administration. The event also saw participation by a large gathering of the local populace which included NCC cadets, college goers and students of local schools.
