Itanagar: Tata Sumo stand shifted in APSTS Station campus

At least  17 counters of Tata Sumo of Ganga Market area have been shifted in the Arunahal Pradesh State Transport Service Station (APSTSS) campus recently.

APSTS Senior Manager, Tuter Dolum informed that the shifting was made as per direction of the Capital district administration, on temporary basis for a year and an agreement was made between Tata Sumo Union and Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation with District administration. The lease rent of the space shall be allotted by the Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC).

Dolum said that they have not permitted to park their vehicle inside the campus as there are already good numbers of local (APST) buses which ply in different route of capital complex, school buses, staff buses and connectivity to ISBT and Railway Station.

The new counter which provide tickets for passengers to various parts of state including Aalo, Ziro, Seppa, Bomdila, Palin, Pasighat, Roing, Tawang, Parsi Parlo, Koloriang, Basar, Hapoli, Tribin, Raga Daporijo, Yingkiong, Tezu, Tinsukia, Namsai and other parts of state.

Around 50 Tata Sumo, Winger, Xylo, Inova, Scorpio etc operates from here on daily basis and ferry around 500 passengers.

He said that the shifting have been made as the National Highway is under construction and the Public Transport federation is also looking for suitable land for their station we are cooperating for it. We have been directed to cooperate and we do cooperate in the greater interest of local commuters. It could be extended on the terms and condition and on direction of the capital administration. He said that all these long distance vehicle are actually started from ISBT but doe to some problem it have not been done Moreover all APST long distance buses are operate from ISBT located at Lekhi, Dolum said.

When asked about the maintaining of cleanness in the campus as is was earlier, All Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Employees Welfare Association (AAPSTEWA) President Tai Nikhi and General Secretary Longpu Roman said that it is responsibility of all passengers and commuters those who come to station/ campus for getting ticket and also those who board the bus as well as Passenger Sumo/Zylo etc.

Both appeal all counter people to maintain cleanness and use dustbin and be a part of Swach Bharat Mission and Clean India Campaign.

Meanwhile Capital Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan informed this daily that it was necessary for several Somu Counters to shift at a safer place so that they can operate smoothly without any hindrance. It was only due to the under construction of four land road in the capital.

He also warned them of any indiscipline and directed them to maintain cleanness in the entire campus. The service however have been started but it would be formally inaugurated by next week, Dhawan added.
