Itanagar- Rebia discusses Land issue for Army cantonment

Minister Land Management, Nabam Rebia on Thursday  discussed issue related to the land for establishment of cantonment area for Army with top Army officials and officials of state government.

The matter was discussed thoroughly requirement and other issues like survey and verification, land acquisition etc.

Lieutenant General Amarjeet Singh Bedi, 4 Corp Tezpur along with Cornel P. Kaushik today meet Minister Nabam Rebia at his official resident. After an hour long  discussion Lieutenant General Bedi informed that the state government who have been looking for the  suitable land for the establishment of cantonment area in Papum Pare district and a land located near Rakap village in  Sangdupota Circle have been finalised and additional land approximately 700 acres is also required and he have placed the requirement of additional land with the state government and hope that the land may also be obtained for the important installation of the army.

He said that the matter relating to the land for ammunition depot at Gumto have also been discussed in the meeting and it is under active persuasion  and it would be shortly finalised.

Rebia while said that the area finalised for the army cantonment area is well connected by the road which is directly connected with the National Highway-415 in Capital complex. Earlier the army  were required 500 acres of land for which the local people have assured to donate and additional land of 700-800 acres would also be available and for which the officials from Army with the district administration and state government will visit and inspect the area on December 18. He have directed the official to take up the issue immediately.

On issue for ammunition depot at Gumto Rebia said that it was pending for quite sometime. The matter was raised with the Union Minister of Defence Nirmala Sitaraman on her recent visit to state and she have directed the army officials to immediately resolved land acquisition and she show her concern on the issue.

He said that he have directed district administration  to expedite the matter and immediately help the army official in land acquisition for the ammunition Depot at Gumto and would be resolved soon.

Secretary Land S. K. Jain, Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Tai Kaye were also present in the meeting.
