Itanagar: No dearth of sports talents in Arunachal- Chowna Mein

 “There is no dearth of sports talents in Arunachal. The boys and girls of this state can win medals- Says Dy CM, Chowna Mein.

“There is no dearth of sports talents in Arunachal. The boys and girls of this state can win medals for the country at international level events if they are backed by proper infrastructure and coaching facilities,” said Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein at the inaugural ceremony of Hero Sub-Junior National Football Championships 2018-19 of All India Football Federation (AIFF) held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun on Sunday.

Mein said that the state has a great pool of talent, and it just has to be tapped properly. The junior players of the state are exceptionally doing well in national and international level events. The government is focusing on proper infrastructure to train and develop our budding players and committed to promote and support sports talents in the state.

While appreciating the efforts of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association in organising the event in the State, he wished for the success of the event and at the same time called upon the players to play in the spirit of true sportsmanship.

Itanagar: No dearth of sports talents in Arunachal- Chowna Mein

 The inaugural match was played between Arunachal Pradesh and Maharastra. The Arunachal boys led by Yura Tarung completely dominated the match from the beginning to win the game by 1 goal.

The second match of the day is scheduled to be played between Tamil Nadu and Odisha.

A total of 20 matches will be played from December 2 to 11 between the 10 states who will fight it out to reach the semis at the Hero Sub-Junior National Football Championships 2018-19. The semi-finals are scheduled for December 12 and the winners will move on to vie for the coveted title of Hero Sub-Junior National Football Championships 2018-19 on December 15.

The team of Arunachal Pradesh has been placed in group ‘A’ along with Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Odisha and Punjab. The states of Telengana, Goa, Mizoram, Jharkhand and Haryana are placed in Group ‘B’.

Minister Sports & Youth Affairs, Mohesh Chai, MLA Mechukha P.D.Sona, Competition Manager AIFF, Rahul Paresar, Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Dani Sulu, Chairman Sports Authority of Aruanchal (SAA), Bamang Tago, Vice Chairman (SAA) Nich Doni, members of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association were also present in the event.
