Itanagar-Jote road issue-USIYF begins movement

United Sangdupota Intellectual Youth Forum (USIYF) began its democratic movement against PWD Doimukh Division on their allege role in providing tender for C/O 24 KM road from Itanagar to Jote in Sangdupota Circle of the district.

USIYF Chairman Teli Tadap Camdir said that we have been fighting against the attitude of the PWD Doimukh Division as the authority have not being doing their work sincerely in the greater interest and development of the area.

USIYF, General Secretary Tam Laniang said that in a judgement of Itanagar permanent bench of Guwahati High Court of Date 21st November have directed the Commissioner/Secretary PWD to that there is no reason to held up the project which is in the public interest but the flouting any of the provision of Manual 2014 by allotting the work to an undeserved tenderer will jeopardise the whole project of the public importance. The petitioner have been given seven days to submit the grievance to Commissioner/Secretary PWD and directed to disposed the case by next seven days.

Laniang said that we have today submitted our representation and we have been pursuing our demand until justice is delivered.

He said that we will stick to our demand which include immediate reconsideration of recent work awarded c/o Itanagar to Jote PWD road maintenance which was awarded to bidder L5 depriving genuine L1, L2 bidders. Ouster of Executive Engineer, PWD Doimukh Division for his illegal and corruption practice and misuse of department fund.

He said that the organisation is not against the development but the work need to be taken up systematically so that no one can point finger but in this case everyone can raise their finger and demanded justice from the department. He also said that we are not playing any politic.

However reacting to the ongoing democratic moment by the youths of Sangdupota Circle Local MLA and Minister Urban Development, Land Management, Law and Judicial Nabam Rebia said that the youths may have been misguided by someone and they should support the development of the area rather they are opposing which may delay the project. Denying his knowledge about the technicality Rebia said that the awarding process have been done by the department and he have no clear knowledge about it.

Rebia appeal the youths to become the part of the development of the area.

Meanwhile the youths are continuing their “Rasta Roko” programme and it is informed by the locals that since yesterday  the JCB etc and heavy vehicles are not being allowed to go towards Jote area on the said stretch of road by the said organisation.
