I have never supported PRC issue rather advocating for rights of indigenous people -Jarjum Ete.
In a wake of the purported video doing rounds on social networking sites, Jarjum Ete, renowned social worker and general secretary of All India Mahila Congress Committee (AIMCC) on Thursday clarified that she never supported or endorsed on giving PRC to non APST in her address.
In the video, Ete is seen sharing space with Takam Sanjoy, president APCC, who is allegedly speaking and supporting on issuing PRC to Non-APST during a Congress rally held at Lekang.
During press conference held at Press Club here, Ete said, “I have never endorsed issuing of PRC to Non-APST on the platform in Lekang or anywhere else. As a social worker I have always worked for the welfare and right of indigenous people and women empowerment for more than 30 years.” But it is very unfortunate that a controversy erupted wherein sections of the society are using un-parliamentary comments against me, criticising me for adopting a double standard on the issue, Ete expressed.
Jarjum also said that as a head of Mahila Congress she appeared for the Congress campaign at Lekang not with a purpose to hurt the interests of people of the state.
Further, stressing on the issue on behalf of INC, Ete expressed her belief that the Congress party will never take an anti-indigenous move nor will it work to hurt the sentiments of people of the state. she also said that she would never do something which would be harmful to the indigenous people of the state
Later, Jarjum also announced that she will be contesting Lok Sabha election from the Arunachal West parliamentary seat with Congress ticket and one of the prospective candidate of the party. she would go to people with Arunachal-Assam boundary issue, customary rights, indigenous right of tribal people, right to natural resources, protection of culture and identity like of Nagaland and Mizoram. Try best to review of the statehood act etc. She added.
