The Economics & Statistics colony dwellers extend heartfelt thanks to Local MLA-cum- Parliamentary Secretary, PWD & UD and, Techi Kaso, Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan, Executive Engineer, PWD, Naharlagun Division, Techi Nabo, Assistant Engineer, PWD Pema Dorjee and B P Mishra, JE for their support and helping hand in renovation of the hanging bridge which was at the verge of collapse.
The hanging bridge which connects Police colony with Economics & Statistics colony is vital as most of the students take this route to go to different schools situated on the other side.
The bridge was remaining in dilapidated condition for more than a year; used to cause threat to life to the commuters. Numbers of holes and broken supporting wires were easily could have been seen before renovation work was carried out recently.
When a few minor accidents were reported due to the deteriorated condition of the bridge, the Economics & Statistics colony dwellers immediately approach the authority about the situation.
Giving a patience hearing to the plea, Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan, IAS and Executive Engineer, PWD, Naharlagun Division, Techi Nabo, immediately took up the matter and directed their officials.
In this regard, a traffic advisory was also issued by the Deputy Commissioner restricting traffic movement during the renovation period.
The Economics & Statistics colony dwellers has further requested the authority concern for construction of a RCC motorable bridge to accommodate the ever growing traffic congestion and also being the only alternative route connecting with rest of the country via Vivek Vihar.
