several orders have been issued regarding banning of tobacco products and its use in offices and for the maintenance of cleanliness in offices- Satya Gopal, CS, Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief Secretary Satya Gopal today appealed the officers and employees of the state government to be sincere and shoulder the responsibility for the development of state.
While talking to the media, he said that it should be our endeavour that officers and employees are made to realise that they aren’t merely a servant of the public but a part of the state and should therefore shoulder the responsibility with sincerely and dedicate their energy with zeal for the development of state.
The employees should feel a sense of belongingness as the state would develop only if collective responsibility is being shared by one and all considering themselves to be a part of the state development.
When asked about banning of tobacco products in offices, cleanliness, punctuality and other issues, he said that several orders have been issued from time to time regarding to punctuality, banning of tobacco products and its use in offices and for the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene in offices.
Directions have been issued for installation of a biometric system in the offices with along with the old system of taking attendance of the staff in an attendance roll with action being taken against employees who don’t adhere to the guidelines, he added.
Once Secretary and Director follow the guidelines of attendance, then other officers and staff will follow suite naturally. Punctuality is one of the most important component which has to be imposed with improvement of work culture. A lot has been achieved in this regard so far but a lot more is to be done.
With regards to use of tobacco products, he said that we should avoid tobacco products in offices and work place. He also added that Office spaces should be kept clean and hygienic so that the efficiency and work culture is improved. He also mentioned about the deleterious effect on health from tobacco consumption and appealed all officers and employees to avoid the use of tobacco product in offices. He said that the decision is being enforced in AP Civil Secretariat as tobacco has been banned in Civil Secretariat.
