Itanagar: Clear stray animals from capital roads- DC directs IMC

Capital district administration have carried eviction drive in last September to January and evicted more than 170 cattle from entire capital complex.

Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta on Thursday have directed the Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) to immediately cleared the capital roads from stray animals.

DC while talking to media have informed that there have been several complaints and media reports that the locals denizens are facing difficulties in national highway and other road in and around the capital complex. These stray cattle also pose serious threat to the commuters and are source of road accidents.

Prohibitory orders have been issued by the capital district administration from time to time and even several warning have also been issued, and even eviction drives are also done from time to time. A fresh directive have also been issued, he said.

A meeting of the officials of IMC, veterinary officials and Administrative officers of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Banderdewa with capital police and will formulate a formula to evict these animals from the capital roads of various parts of capital complex. He added.

He further requested the denizens of capital complex to cooperate with the district administration and to refrain from letting their pet animals and cattle out in the open which result in various nuisance like traffic problem, unhygienic atmosphere etc.

The number of these stray animals has been increasing constantly, and despite repeated requests of the local residents, the administration has failed to tackle this problem. Most of the stray animals remain present in vegetable and fruit markets, meat shops and been freely wandering on national highway and other arterial and sector roads. A youth leader informed.

The dumping of garbage on the road sides on main road, and the overflowing garbage bins in residential localities have proved happy hunting ground for animals. These animals converge here to rummage through the vegetable wastes dumped on the road sides. A former IMC councilor said.

It’s the fault of the denizens too they throw garbage anywhere they want and animals like cow goat dogs gets attracted towards it and this are the people complaining about stray animals what a hypocrite society,and I’m damn sure this officers , police personnels they do also throw garbages on the road carelessly and attracting large no. Of poor animals .
    First change your behavior then complain about it
