Itanagar and Naharlagun are facing Drinking water crisis

Twin city Itanagar and Naharlagun are facing acute crisis of Drinking water crisis. There are two source of water supply system for Itanagar from Senki water treatment plant located at Senki View while second source from Poma village which is damaged at several points and the department have put up their efforts to restore which may take some time however the distribution through Senki View source is being managed somehow and would managed some extend.

Parliamentary Secretary (PWD & UD)  and Itanagar local MLA Techi Kaso after having discussion with PHE official said that we are also very much concern about the scarcity of drinking water supply in twin capital city.

He said that the distribution of Naharlagun township is completely depend upon the water supply line from Borum which have been completely damaged after the hanging bridge collapse on river Pachin near Helipad  and the distribution have been completely disrupted and due to which there is a scarcity of drinking water supply. We have to restore the water supply system which would be done by way of imposing water tankers and he have directed the PHED to deploy 8 tankers for Naharlagun and 1 tanker for Nirjuli which would be pressed into service form Thursday. The timing shall be maintain by the local PHED officials.

He said that the washed away hanging bridge/tower would take lots of time for construction and we are planning to stretch separate supply line via Borum to Papu and to Naharlagun on the side of Trans Arunachal Highway for which the officials have been asked to procure materials.

Kaso said that in between, the citizens have to bear with us at this time of natural calamity and government is alert and engineers and workers are on job and doing its best for the service of public.
