Itanagar: Admin should protect Senki river from becoming a dumping ground- APACC

The Senki river is a lifeline of Itanagar capital complex, but the river is shrinking day by day due to dumping of garbage.

Arunachal Pradesh Abotani Community Confederation appeal the state government and capital district administration to take care of lone Senki river flowing through the capital complex and its adjoining area.

In a memorandum submitted by the APACC to the state government have demanded immediate action to protect the Senki river from becoming a dumping ground.

The Senki river is a lifeline of Itanagar capital complex, but the river is shrinking day by day due to dumping of garbage and liters which caused serious threat to the aquatic life , damaging the ecosystem of the city, the memorandum said.

It have also been seen that several exists of the toilet either directly send toward the main river or the small tributaries which is quite unhygienic and the Swacch Bharat Mission launched by the government does not have any meaning there.

The organization appeal the state government and capital district administration to immediately intervene into the matter and take necessary to dismantle all the toilet structures and issue strict instruction not the dump garbage  so that the river remain pure and the beauty intact.

Meanwhile, referring to memorandum submitted, the capital district administration have constituted a committee a three members comitte which include EAC (HQ) Choiki Dondup, PHED Executive Engineer Tadar Mangku, IMC Executive Engineer Tadar Tarang. The committee will verify the situation and the committee will submit its report so that followup action is taken up for rejuvenation of Senki river.

DC, Capital further appeal all denizens residing nearby river side and on the back of river not to litter the river water.
