Itanagar: 9-year-old girl drowns in Dikrong River

The deceased was later identified as Anga Ekka d/o Tamar Ekke of Ekke village under Daporijo district currently residing at Chandranagar Forest Colony.

A 9-year-old  girl drowned while bathing with her friend in Dikrong River near SRPL colony Chandannagar, informed police.

The deceased was later identified as Anga Ekka d/o Tamar Ekke of Ekke village under Daporijo district currently residing at Chandranagar Forest Colony.

SP Capital, Tumme Amo informed that the deceased had gone for bathing at the river along with one of her friend Lindum Meku and unfortunately was drowned while taking bath.

As the statement given by Meku, the deceased disappeared from river at around 1.30 pm. However, she returned to home thinking that she might have been joking and hiding, informed SP.

He also informed that at around 1.45 pm they received information of one dead body floating in the River Dikrong near SRPL colony Chandannagar.

“On receiving the information Itanagar Police Station duty officer SI N. Nishant, OC WPS Insp P Taku along with party rushed to the spot.

On arrival to spot, it was learnt that the dead body was already taken up to RKMH by her local guardian Kabga Ekke (uncle). Accordingly, the team reached RKMH and conducted inquest in presence of Executive Magistrate,” informed SP.

He informed that the body has been kept in hospital morgue for tonight and added that the Post Mortem examination will to be conducted next day at TRIHMS.

“A UD case has been registered at Itanagar Police Station,” informed SP.
