Himachal Pradesh: State’s Conclave on Science & Technology Concludes

Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi in association with Himachal Pradesh State Science Technology and Environment Council, Shimla organised the two days National Level Annual Conclave 2018 on State Science & Technology in Kufri near Shimla on  7th- 8th June, 2018.  Delegates of 30 states and union territories of the country lead by Member Secretary of State S&T Council of each state participated in the Conclave.

The two days conclave was inaugurated and presided by  Tarun Kapoor IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Himachal Pradesh.

While presiding over the inaugural function he emphasised that the study of science and technology is very comprehensive and nearly 75 percent of life is dependent upon it. Several researches had been taken place in various fields of science, but a lot is yet to be done.

Addressing the conclave, Er. Ravinder Gaur, Scientist and Member Secretary, State Science & Technology Programme Division, Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India, New Delhi said that the main objective of the conclave has been to access the progress of various projects sanctioned by DST, GoI, which are being implemented by the S & T Councils and convergence of successful and location specific technologies for replication, research and development among the State S&T Councils.

Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCS&T) was represented in the conclave by  C. D. Mungyak, Director cum Member Secretary and Dr. Debajit Mahanta, Joint Director. Mungyak along with Dr. Mahanta presented the achievements made by APSCS&T and progress of the various ongoing projects and programmes through power point presentation. Plan and programmes, projects identified, proposed to be taken up for implementation by APSCS&T in the State for its development through S&T interventions was also presented and discussed in the Conclave.

Director cum Member Secretary, APSCS&T also highlighted and urged DST, GOI for generous funding of the projects and support for strengthening, development of S&T manpower in the State through training, mutual cooperation, technology transfer among the S & T Councils.
