Govt officials are the pillars of the govt- Governor PB Acharya

Arunachal Pradesh Governor P B Acharya, who is on a four-day tour to the districts of Lower and Upper Subansiri, reached Daporijo, the district headquarters of Upper Subansiri, on Wednesday .

While interacting with the district officials soon after his arrival at Daporijo, the Governor P B Acharya exhorted them to come out of their comfort zone to address the challenges of the needy and downtrodden. Govt officials are the pillars of the govt to work for the welfare and development of the people, asserted.

He emphasized that they must create awareness about various welfare programmes and schemes of the govt such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Mudra Bank etc.

The Governor stressed on motivating the youth towards education, entrepreneurship, preservation of cultural roots and harnessing natural resources. Sponsor some poor students and assist at least five persons to avail benefits from State and Central schemes, he advised.

He asked the bankers to be more proactive and ensure that people of the district are covered under welfare programmes of the State and Central governments.

Reiterating his deep concern on the implementation of mid-day meals, distribution of ration items to the beneficiaries and existence of corruption, he stressed for strict monitoring of implementation of the schemes in the right spirit.

The Governor, who came to Daporijo by road, said that roads are the lifeline for development and hence, efforts must be there to improve the road communication for all-round development of the district.

The Governor also reviewed the activities under Swachh Bharat Mission, food security, education, horticulture, social welfare and road communication.

Deputy Commissioner A K Singh briefed the Governor on various welfare programmes and schemes implemented in the district.

Earlier, the Governor visited Raga in Lower Subansiri district yesterday, which is the first visit to Raga by any Governor of the State.

Braving rain, landslides and challenging road condition, the Governor undertook the journey from Itanagar to Raga by road. He took time out to meet govt officials and general public and paid surprise visit to a school on the way. He also met the GB of Tamen at Tamen IB.

Continuing his effort to reach out to the people in the interior areas of the State, the Governor met people from all walks of life and interacted with them at Raga circuit house.

Recalling his association with the people of the area and Arunachal Pradesh since 1966, the Governor said that the people of the State are the sentinels of the nation and spirit of patriotism is in their blood.

The Governor said that Arunachal Pradesh is blessed with enormous hydropower potential, treasured flora & fauna and horticultural and medicinal plants.

He appealed the people, particularly the graduating students and youth to explore innovative ideas to harness these natural gifts. He advised them not to depend on the govt for their every need but to find ways and means to address it. Make individual contributions towards any govt project to have the sense of ownership, he added.

The Governor urged upon the people to stand against corruption. Never deprive the rights and entitlements of the poor and children, the Governor said.

Interacting with the govt officials, the Governor said that educational empowerment should be used for upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. He appealed to them to create awareness on central sponsored schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, One Rupee insurance etc. amongst the masses and assist them in availing the benefits.

Involve NGOs, college and university students to reach out to more and more people, Governor suggested.

He also called upon the govt officials to sponsor children from poorer section of the society in their educational process.

Welcoming the Governor to Raga, the local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Tamar Murtem said that it is a historical occasion for the place and people will always remember the visit in times to come.

Murtem briefed the Governor of development activities, potential and challenges of the area.

One of the former wards of ‘My Home India’, a NGO formed by Acharya in 1960s to build bond amongst the people of the metros with those of strategic border state of Arunachal Pradesh, Nido Tama requested the Governor for his initiative in expediting the process of creation of proposed Kamala district.

He also highlighted the challenges of the people of the area.

One of Swachh Bharat Mission ambassadors, selected by Acharya, Tama assured his commitment towards clean India. He also appealed the denizens of Raga to join him in the mission.
