Gauhati High Court issued criminal contempt notice to Dhubri SP Diganta Borah

The division bench of Gauhati high court has issued criminal contempt notice to Diganta Borah, IPS presently S P Dhubri for filing false affidavit and manipulating records relating to recruitment of total 2401 posts of constables pursuant to advertisement dated 20.2.2009 in the Cachar district.

A division bench of Justice C R Sarma and Justice Mrs.(Dr.) Indira Shah after hearing Mr Amit Goyal, advocate  appearing for the Petitioner also directed the DIG(southern range) to take into  safe custody the entire records relating to the recruitment.

Sujit Kumar Paul one of the candidate who applied for the post of constable under an OBC category. At the time of submission of his application, he also submitted his OBC and NCC certificate but in the final selection list his name was treated as General category on the ground that he has not submitted his OBC and NCC certificate. Against that, Mr Sujit Kumar Paul approached Gauhati high court but his petition was dismissed as in the records he was treated under general category because in the records OBC certificate was not there.

But recently Mr Paul obtained a copy of original records where his name was enrolled under OBC category. Thereafter Mr Paul filed review petition for recalling the order of dismissal of his writ petition and Contempt petition (criminal) against the then S P Cachar Sri Diganta Borah, IPS for filing false affidavit in the High court and manipulating records and misleading the high court.
