Games and sports are an integral part of a student’s life,” said the Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Er. Tatung Jamoh today while gracing as Chief Guest on the closing ceremony of three days Block Level Upper Primary Schools Sports Meet at Ruksin.

A student should study hard to be successful in competitive examinations, but he/she should also play games and sports to enjoy the health and vigor of life. Jamoh while appreciating the DDSE Jongge Yiang, organizing chairman Tonggeng Panyang(ZPM) and his associates Omir Tatin (Member Secy) and Tanyo Tapak(BEO), Talen Talom(Match Commissioner) for successful conduct of the sport meet asserted that in developed countries, education of students is no longer confined to the classroom lectures alone. Monotony of lectures has been very much minimized by participation in games and sports and various athletic feats, which generate healthy competitive spirit and interest in life among students.

Only education does not fulfil the criteria of being well organized social member of society. Victory or defeat is not final but participation and courage count. Sports make a person mentally strong to deal with success and failure equally which is also a best lesson of life, stated the parliamentary Secretary Jamoh in his address to encourage the students. The participation in sports and games may not ensure immediate gain but it is not fruitless. According to him such activities gradually builds up a healthy body and makes the mind of one energetic. To promote sports culture and to organize such event annually, Jamoh assured to grant some amount yearly from his MLALAD fund. He also assured the gathering to put extra efforts for promotion of literary activities in the area with the appropriate government authority. He gave away prizes to the achievers on the occasion.

Earlier, Guest of Honour Jongge Yirang advised the students to spend time on games and sports along with bookish learning. It never affect education but lead towards personality development and responsibilities. They learn cooperation, teamwork, leadership methods and time management and chance to show their hidden talents.

Organizing Chairman Tonggeng Panyang opined that in students life extracurricular activities empower them to make their own active decisions and also help them to gain an accurate experience, skills and confidence to lead them on the path of their future. Games are creative and mindful expression of the human spirit that comes out through the creation of activity that has an entertaining, flexible, instructive and competing element. Such activities foster unity and brotherhood in the society, he added.

Ruksin ADC T. Pada was present on the occasion. 17(seventeen) schools Upper Primary schools took part in the “Block level Sports Meet” where Remi UPS adjudged as the best disciplined school while Mirem Cluster grabbed best position at cluster level. In boys’ football final Oyan team defeated Remi by 4-1 and in girls football final played between Sika-Bamin and Oyan, the former won the match with 2-1 score.
