Perfect financial management of the state exchequer has been on top priority since the BJP Government came to power in Arunachal Pradesh.

On directions from Chief Minister Pema Khandu as well as Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, the state Finance department today launched a three-day training workshop for all departments to introduce Public Financial Management system in the state.

Through this system, the state Finance department and the state treasury will be linked with a central server with a Union government technology platform and RBI for online transfer of resources to the state treasury. Resources will thereafter be transferred to the departments at the headquarters on the same platform and reach the final beneficiaries on a direct benefit transfer model in their bank account.

As a result of this system, there will be much greater transparency of expenditure management in the state.

In the first phase, schemes of departments like Health, Education, Social Welfare and Food and Civil Supplies will be taken on priority.

This mechanism will ensure that benefits including stipends scholarships, old age pensions, salaries of teachers of SSA, RUSA and RMSA start reaching in their respective bank accounts directly.

It is expected that the system will become live for implementation in the coming weeks.

The finance department has established a DBT cell headed by Development Commissioner Finance, Planning and Investments. This is part of a series of governance reforms launched by the Khandu government in recent times.
