Dollungmukh people pleading to save them from Bombing and firing

The people of Dollungmukh area, who are suffering on a daily basis due to the IAF bombing and firing spot and the border dispute between Arunachal and Assam, today served a- One week ultimatum to the state government to address their demands that they have already submitted in the form of a memorandum under the banner of Dollungmukh Area Welfare Forum (DAWF) and All Dollungmukh Area Students’ Union (ADASU),to the Chief Minister Pema Khandu and MoS for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju during their visit to Raga for the inaugural function of the newly created Kamle district.

Around 15000 people living under Dullungmukh daily suffering due to the bombing exercises carried out by the IAF. Crops are damaged, environment is disturbed, and several diseases have also been reported due to it. Even one of our brothers lost his life back in 1980 due to such bombing practices,” chief advisor to the ADASU, Advocate Temi Pabo lamented, here today in a press conference at Arunachal press club.

The Chief advisor also informed that they would be staging a peaceful dharna near the state civil secretariat, as the first phase of their democratic movement, if the state government fails to take any concrete decisions within seven days.

ADASU President Nido Tama briefing about the memorandum submitted, said, “We have demanded immediate arrest of the officials involved in demolishing the tourist amusement park, DC North Lakhimpur Barun bhuyan, SP N. Lakhimpur, CCF Assam, DFO N.Lakhimpur Dr. B. Bashantom and CO IAF Dullungmukh Firing Zone, besides Immediate refunding of a similar scheme in lieu of the demolished buildings on compensatory ground. We have also demanded for immediate shifting of the Air Force range from Dollungmukh area and constitution of enquiry committee against state Tourism department to ascertain the facts leading to the illegal eviction drive and to withhold the bill amount”.

The Union also opined that, since both the states are under BJP rule, it would be quite easy to make a permanent settlement as the central Govt is also BJP and the fact that we also have a Union minister in the central cabinet.

Narrating the illegal eviction drive carried out by the Assam Government on December 8 last, demolishing 5 tourist houses and the amusement park constructed inside Arunachal territory, Pabo also informed that the state Tourism department has not taken any steps till date, adding that the state Government should instead file a case on Contempt of court against the Assam Government for violation of the Supreme Court order to maintain the status quo in the border disputed area.
