Divisional Commissioner East to be function from Namsai within a month- Chowna Mein

A good news for the people of Eastern Arunachal on Independence Day as the Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announces to shift the Divisional Commissioner East within a month and make it function from its Eastern Divisional Headquarter, Namsai. He announced this in a developmental meeting with the HoDs and Panchayat Leaders of Namsai District at Deputy Commissioner’s Office here today.

To expedite the process of shifting of Divisional Commissioner East, Mein asked the District Administration to speed up the finishing task of the Mini Secretariat building and directed that the Deputy Commissioner Office should be shifted to the Mini Secretariat by the end of this month.  And the Divisional Commissioner East will function from the present DC Office building. He also said that the Chief Engineer’s Office of PWD and PHED, Eastern Zone will also be shifted to Namsai within a month’s period along with the Divisional Commissioner East.

He further disclosed that the Mini Secretariat Building of Namsai will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu by video conferencing from Itanagar owing to the bad road communication caused by continuous downpours of rains and occurrence of floods for the last few days.

Mein while taking stock of the progress of works under various departments especially on Central Sponsored Schemes and Chief Minister’s Flagship Programme called upon the Govt officers to perform and sincerely work for development of the State. He urged them to ensure transparency in the implementation of all the schemes in the district by making optimum use of Information Technology to check corruption.

On the grievous flood situation in the district over the last few days due to incessant rainfall, Mein asked the Deputy Commissioner to identify the places where land were submerged and major damaged has been done by the flood water. He, however, sought explanation from the executing department on the flood protection works that has been carried out last year in some flood-affected places and called for immediate restoration works in flood-affected areas.

He also sought to introduce the Tai Khampti as third Language in the Khampti inhabited areas of the district stressing for the preservation of indigenous culture and language. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner to come up with a holistic approach and plan to arrest the drug menace in the district in consultation with district police and various social organisations of the district.  He further asked to make the Drug de-addiction/Rehabilitation Centre functional at the earliest possible.

R K Sharma, Deputy Commissioner and respective HoDs highlighted on various aspects of developmental projects in the district.

Among others, Chow Tewa Mein, Parliamentary Secretary for Environment & Forest and Chow Zingnu Namchoom, Parliamentary Secretary for Plannning & Investment and Personnel were also present in the meeting.

 The dignitaries also planted saplings in the premises of Mini Secretariat Namsai after the meeting.
