Cyclone hit Papum Pare, 100 homeless, massive damages to property

A severe cyclone with hailstorm hit the state and it adjoining parts in Papum Pare District and its bordering parts of Assam yesterday causing heavy damages to property leaving more than 100 family homeless and damages of more than 150 houses so far.

The severe cyclone which lashed the Banderdewa Circle specially in Chessa-Sunajuli Panchayat at around 7.45 to 8.30 PM face the trailer of devastation which damaged more than one hundred fifty dwelling houses, granary store, garage, out house, Boys and girls hostel, School building, RCC building, killing cattle, standing crops, maize cultivation, rubber plantation, snapping power lines, falling of huge trees and hundreds of battle nut trees obstruction of roads, partially damage of boundary wall of Van Vigyan Kendra Chessa and so far as reported by the locals five person have been injured in the area living a scene of devastation which leave the destruction and family homeless

On receipt of the information local MLA cum Minister Urban Development, Land Management etc Nabam Rebia alongwith officials which include Capital DC Incharge Talom Dupok, CO Banderdewa Pama Bagang, ZPM Lower Balijan, Tana Puna Tara, IMC Banderdewa Councillor Tai Tasung,ASM Chessa-Sunajuli Chera Tubin AE (Power)  Balijan Sub-Divison Janu Tayeng,  today rushed to the spot and take a stock of the situation and find that many family become homeless due to massive cyclone and hailstorm. He also visited almost every household all along the area by foot to Chessa-I, Chessa-II, Sunajuli, Chakma Block-8.

Rebia console the victims and console the family members and assured all possible help from the Government. He also requested the local leaders to extend the physical help in rehabilitation and directed the I/C DC Dupok to immediately asses the loss of property damaged caused by Disaster Management Department immediately for payment of compensation for immediate rehabilitation of the family. He also directed the AE Power who accompanied the visitor to restore the power supply within a week.

The last night cyclone is one of the worst ever seen cyclone or natural disaster in the his constituency and first of its kind. He also appeals the officers and officials and PRI leaders to extend help and support irrespective of holiday to the victims in their process of rehabilitation.

The report of cyclone hit have been reported from Sangdupota circle where five dwelling housed have been partially damaged in jote and Mokomoli villages, snapping of power line of both LT as well as HT lines is totally snapped and would takes at least four days to five days for restoration as revealed by officials of Power Deptt.

Upper Balijan ZPM Gollo Takam while said that the cyclone have also hit the Sangdupota circle of and five houses at Jote have been partially damages, few standing crops  and boys hostel of Secondary School at Bassarnallo have been damaged.

Meanwhile while talking to this daily I/C Chief Secretary cum Principal Secretary (Home) Satya Gopal said that we have the information of the cyclone hit and the matter have been accordingly referred to Disaster Management Department for consideration and they will immediately look into.
