CM Khandu inaugurates Mahabodhi School and Siddhartha Children’s Home

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated the Mahabodhi School and Mahabodhi Siddhartha Children’s Home at Mahabodhi Centre at Teli village, funded by ex-MP Dr Ashok Ganguly and the Ministry of Culture, govt. of India respectively.

Also Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the seismic isolated Mahabodhi Kalyanamitra guesthouse, while RWD Parliamentary Secretary, Jambey Tashi inaugurated the Mahabodhi Cultural Hall funded by Rajya Sabha MP, Mukut Mithi.

The Chief Minister appreciated the remarkable infrastructural achievement made Mahabodhi-cultural-Hallby the Mahabodhi centre within eight years of its establishment, with help received through donations and support from the central government.

He thanked Venerable Kassapa Bhanteji, President of the Mahabodhi Society who took the initiative to establish the centre with home for elders and children, old age home, Mahabodhi Kalyanamitra guesthouse, cultural hall and Mahabodhi School.

Lauding his initiative, Khandu said anything in the world could be achieved if a person has a good vision. He assured to help the Mahabodhi establishment starting next financial year and made a personal contribution towards the Mahabodhi society from his personal expenses.

Stating that Arunachal now enjoys good relation with the centre, the Chief Minister said that PM Modi has a good vision for the state, which the people will get to see in the coming days. Also he announced that in the coming financial year, the state would see best people centric budget.

In order to enable him to devote his best effort in working for a pan Arunachal, Khandu appealed the people Tawang and West Kameng region to extend cooperation to his government, so that he could equally take care of the development needs of all the districts. Mahabodhi-Aaj-Tak

Further, the Chief Minister appreciated the PWD department, IIT Guwahati and Chief Engineer, PWD (Survey, Investigation, Design & Planning), Atop Lego for coming up with ‘seismic isolated Kalyanamitra Guesthouse’ for Mahabodhi house for elders and children.

The project with its cost at Rs 85 lakhs is a demonstration project developed jointly by PWD department and IIT Guwahati, wherein the construction concept of confined masonry has been adopted. The building is also installed with fiber ‘reinforced elastomeric isolator’, developed by IIT Guwahati to reduce seismic force.

The Chief Minister appreciated the PWD for using local architectural designs in the building, used in windows and doorframes. Lauding it as creative initiative, Khandu appealed Mein, who also heads the PWD ministry to use local architectural designs in all government buildings as way to preserve and promote local culture.

On the occasion, a newsletter – Mahabodhi Aaj Tak was released by the Chief Minister. He also dedicated a documentary on the life of senior citizens, ‘The Third Inning’ for the Karuna old age home in the Mahabodhi centre. The documentary is sponsored by the family members of former Chief Minister, late Dorjee Khandu and directed by Tsangpa Norbu.

Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi, Daporijo MLA Dikto Yekar, DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok and SP Tawang MK Meena were also present on the occasion.
