CM khandu expresses shock over the dilapidated condition of school in Daporijo

On inspection of the classrooms, Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed shock over the dilapidated condition of the school, which had walls broken, perforated ceilings, broken windows and damaged floors.

On the occasion of Children’s day, Chief Minister Pema Khandu here visited the government higher secondary school and the lone government college of the Upper Subansiri district.

The Chief Minister was heartily welcomed by school children with slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, State BJP President Tapir Gao, Horticulture Parliamentary Secretary Punji Mara, Dumporijo MLA Pakgna Bage, Daporijo MLA Dikto Yekar and other officials were also alongwith the chief minsiter.

On inspection of the classrooms, the Chief Minister expressed shock over the dilapidated condition of the school, which had walls broken, perforated ceilings, broken windows and damaged floors.

Interacting with the teachers and public leaders present, Khandu urged them to take good care of the school. He said people of the area and public leaders are directly responsible for poor condition of the school. They should know to take care of the public property as it belongs to them, he said.

The Chief Minister also requested the Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf and Police department to keep vigil of the school compound so that no unruly youths dare to come to school and damage the school property.

Khandu promised to immediately sanction Rs 10 crore for building of new classrooms and requested the execution of work be carried under DC with proper monitoring team.

He also assured to introduce diploma level computer courses for the school with support from department of telecommunication and informed to hold discussion with union govt on this matter.

Later he visited the Government College functioning from a temporary campus in the town. He interacted with the college faculty and heard their grievances.

The Chief Minister assured that the college will be shifted to its permanent site at Jeram village, 12 kms away from the town.  He asked the district administration to work out on a composite proposal that includes all the infrastructural requirements of the college, such as, hostel, water and electricity facilities. Khandu also discussed on the early completion of approach road for the college and assured that it will be taken up on priority.
