Chief Minister Kalikho Pul Greets People on May Day

Chief Minister Kalikho Pul extends heartiest greetings to the people of the state, particularly to the workers on the momentous occasion of International Worker’s Day popularly known as Labour Day or May day.

Chief Minister Kalikho Pul Greets People on May DayIn his message, the Chief Minister said that as International Workers’ Day is being celebrated to commemorate the Haymarket Affair (Haymarket Massacre) of 4th May’ 1886 in Chicago where workers were killed when workers were on the general strike for their eight-hour workday. As earlier the working condition of the laborer was very severe and working hours was 10 to 16 hour a day even in the unsafe conditions. Deaths, injuries and other dreadful conditions of the workers were very common at the workplace during the 1860’s and working people were very agitated throughout the workday until the 8-hour workday was declared.

In his message the Chief Minister said, “let us celebrate this event to strengthen, promote and encourage the working class, who are the soldier of growth and development at the grass root”.

He further said to celebrate this momentous occasion to rededicate ourselves with renewed zeal and sense of responsibility towards work culture, sincerity, dedication and honesty for the progress and prosperity of the state and nation.

On the occasion, he also extends his best wishes to all the workers of the state.
