Changlang- Assam Rifle Apprehended NSCN cadres

Khonsa  and Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a successful operations in Wakka village of Longding District along the border of  Tirap District and Jairampur town respectively during the night of 16th July, 2017 and apprehended  one NSCN (K) cadre and one NSCN (R) OGW.

Based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and carry out extortion in Wakka village, accordingly the Khonsa Battalion swiftly launched an operation resulting in the apprehension of Self Style Sergeant Tonpha Pansa of NSCN (K) with a pistol and live ammunition of various weapons. On post spot interrogation he admitted allegiance to NSCN (K).

In similar operation launched by the Jairampur Battalion based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and carry out extortion in Jairampur town, accordingly the Jirampur Battalion swiftly launched an operation in Jairampur town, Wangwa Hakhun, OGW of NSCN(R) apprehended from Jairampur town. During post spot interrogation the OGW admitted  allegiance to NSCN (R), he further divulged that he has been an active member of the banned outfit for last three months and was involved in extortion activities from government employees and businessmen in Jairampur.

The security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the south ALP and these apprehension has struck a blow to the extortions activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the areas. The operations has tightened noose around the gp and has brought relief to the local populace. Assam Rifles once again truly stood by their motto “ Friends of the Northeast People”.
