This time where in Meghalaya Cattle Smuggler landed in BSF net, on the same time BSF in Assam and Bengal hundreds of Cattle Heads seized. Smuggler failed to give a slip and landed in the net of the BSF troops deployed at Baldamgiri, South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. BSF troops apprehended one Indian national namely Jakir Miya along with a truck laden with 15 cattle on Wednesday.
The apprehended person revealed that the cattle were brought from Garobadha Bazar situated near Tura town and were supposedly being handed over to one Nurul Sangma at Mirngipara.
Further duo was had their plans for taking these cattle in a truck for handing them over to Bangladeshi cattle smugglers Zamiruddin, resident of Kurigram (Bangladesh).
Alert BSF troops caught hold Jakir Miya with the cattle, while Nurul Sangma managed to flee from the site.
After questing it was revealed that the above persons work only as carrier and earn Rs.1,000/- as haulage. The main kingpin is Amirul Islam of Dhubri, who plays a vital role in smuggling of cattle from hinterland in India to Bangladesh with the help of these carriers.
The BSF has been making sincere efforts to prevent the smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh. There has been sizeable number of cattle seizure in the bordering area of Assam and Meghalaya now, since few days. Apprehended person and along with seized items being handed over to concerned department for further legal action.
On the other hand BSF Troops deployed under Guwahati Frontier in Dhubri and Cooch Behar have seized large numbers of cattle heads meant for smuggling to Bangladesh on the intervening night of 5th /6th April 2016.
427 cattle heads worth approximately Rs. 42,90,600/- were seized from the Indo Bangladesh border in Dhubri, Assam and the adjacent Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.
