BSF Seizes Silver, Cattle Heads Along Indo-Bangladesh Border

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday seized nearly 06 kg Silver and 158 cattle heads from near the Indo Bangladesh Border of Khurshahat in Cooch Behar,  (West Bengal), and Dhubri of Assam.

On specific input provided by BSF intelligence unit, about the probability of smuggling of some precious metal, surveillance was mounted in the target area on Monday. A suspect approached the target area with the consignment and tried to throw it across the border fencing, towards Bangladesh. However, when the alert troops swooped on to the area, the suspect abandoned the consignment and fled from the spot. The party recovered 06 kg silver in three securely packed packets, which was verified to be genuine, having on approximate cost of Rs 2.87 Lacs in the market. Effort are on to trace the suspect,

Besides, BSF troops of Dhubri sector seized 158 cattle heads on the night intervening of 1 /2 Aug 2016 while these were being attempted to be smuggled out to Bangladesh through the riverine border.

BSF troops are always alert to the issue of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of illegal crimes despite being displaced from BOPs due to flood and other associated problems related to monsoons.
