BSF and BGB paid homage to BSF heroes of 1971 Indo-Pak War

The BSF and BGB paid homage and remembered the BSF heroes of 1971 Indo-Pak War on 11th Dec 2016 at about 1130 hrs when Major General Abul Hossain, Director General, Border Guard Bangladesh along with other members of BGB, reached the War Memorial Kilapara which is known as a place of sacrifice, cooperation and friendship between Bangladesh and India.

The names 09 BSF martyrs who laid their lives are engraved in golden letters on the War Memorial, which stands bang on the Indo-Bangladesh International Border. The Director General, Border Guard Bangladesh,  arrived at Kilapara  as a part of his first visit  after taking over the charge as Director General of BGB to pay homage to the martyrs, whose supreme sacrifice denied the strategic control over the Dalu-Tura road during the Liberation War of Bangladesh. The DG BGB along with other BGB members was received by Shri P K Dubey, Inspector General Meghalaya Frontier. Paying gratitude to the gallant BSF heroes, who laid down their lives in Liberation War of Bangladesh and became icon of sacrifice,  he laid wreath at the memorial. Sacrifice made by Late Mohammad Ashfaq who had deserted Pakistani Air Force and joined Mukti Bahini in Mymensingh was also remembered.

 War Memorial Kilapara also carries with it an untold saga of miseries, sufferings and bravery. The Dalu, Kilapara area was one of strategic place in Liberation war of Bangladesh, situated across the Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. During the short visit commanders of both the sides also discussed on the various issues and decided to co-operate with each other to resolve them amicably. The Director General  Border Guard Bangladesh showed his strong inclination to maintain the friendly relation between both the forces at all time high. The meeting ended in cordial atmosphere.
