Big Challenge for Nabam Tuki : Rebuilding Congress Party’s image

Former chief minister Nabam Tuki for his loyalty, sincerity and down to earth nature was appointed as APCC chief to regain the lost image of the Congress party.

After Congress miserably lost party in simultaneous May-2019 assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state, sitting APCC president Takam Sanjoy reportedly resigned from the post owning moral responsibility for which the office remained almost defunct, party sources told Arunachal24 on Thursday.

Thus, former chief minister Nabam Tuki for his loyalty, sincerity and down to earth nature was appointed as APCC chief to regain the lost image of the party. Congress has four legislators – Nabam Tuki and Lombo Tayeng, both have won from their Sagalee & Mebo assembly constituency respectively for six times, former union minister Ninong Ering and former speaker-cum-minister Wanglin Lowangdong in the 60-member house.

Tuki, present NECCC adviser, who served as AICC member, APCC working president, vice president & general secretary, All India NSU general secretary, president of NSI & APYC and Seva Dal chairman, when contacted over telephone, extended his gratitude to AICC president Rahul Gandhi for entrusting the responsibility to lead the party from the front when Congress has been facing debacle across the country. He also lauded AICC for appointing Tayeng as CLP leader.

Asked about his priority, he said that restructuring grassroots level party units for effective functioning, reactivating all frontal organizations to fight for the rights of all sections of the society while making the voice of the opposition heard within and outside the house. Moreover, actions would be in tune with Congress principle of strengthening democracy and democratic rights of the people, he added.
