Assam NRC row:  Arunachal on alert, Police caught ILP defaulters

Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) kept on alert as Ministry of Home Affairs, (MHA) Government of India issued a direction to state government to maintain law and order issue in view of the publication of draft roll of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

Chief Secretary Satya Gopal while talking to this correspondent  said  that it is our obligation even if there is no direction to maintain law and order peace and tranquillity in state and communal harmony with development for the people.

When contacted Police Headquarter (PHQ) Superintendent of Police, Special Branch & Crime Dr. Navdip Singh Brar inform that, in view of publication of draft roll for NRC in Assam a direction from MHA was received on July 23 and with direction from state government accordingly advisory was issued to all superintended of Police  (SP) and officers Incharge of all Police Stations with bordering Assam to maintain extra vigil toward the movement of people in view of the publication of NRC and maintaining of law and order, sensitization of police force, local administration and general public, awareness among the masses, issue of prehistory order and awareness on ILP and intensive checking of ILP in state and other social issue.

He said that the intensive ILP checking drive have already been started and on July 30 itself, A total  247 ILP defaulters have been extradited from the Inner line boundary of state.

This exercise will continue until an amicable solution come in this regard. He said.

The exercise which include  ILP checking in other parts of building construction site, market area, hotel and other places and would show the visible appearance of police with public.

Meanwhile Capital SP M Harsha Vardhan inform that Itanagar Police conducted ILP checking at various Check points in the district. More than 80 ILP violators were detected in the process on Monday.  one foreigner was also caught without PAP and legal action has been taken in the matter.

Capital SP said that Itanagar Police is alert and will continue ILP checking drives regularly. The ILP checking was conducted in all area starting from Bandardewa to Holongi. Capital police is alert in the light of the NRC issue in neighbouring state.

Meanwhile capital police sources said in today exercise 93 ILP defaulters were detected and deported from state.
