Arunachal: XVIII Tadar Tang football qualifier for Zone 1 begins at Seppa

Amidst huge gathering of enthralling audience, the 18th edition of the state-level Tadar Tang football qualifier for Zone 1 was officially kicked off today by ADC (Seppa HQ) Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla in presence of Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association Kipa Ajay, ADI Nondo Doka, DSO Koya Yame, AMDO Keshok Dodum, EKFA President Eka Rimo, EKFA General Secretary Rajesh Singhi and host of govt. officials, public leaders and representatives of EKFA and participating teams here at General Ground, Seppa.

Total four teams representing Tawang, West Kameng, Pakke Kessang and East Kameng districts respectively are taking part in the Zone 1 qualifying round of the tournament. The selected teams and players from this qualifying round will then compete in the final round of the tournament, which is slated to be organized at Pasighat.

The first phase of the qualifying round for Zone 1 will be held from 20 to 22 November.

While announcing the tournament opened, ADC (Seppa HQ) Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla exhorted the participants to exhibit sportsmanship spirit and play skillfully in accordance with the rules and regulations of the game. He further urged the players to play the game with utmost fairness and discipline.

Quoting, “participation is most important, not winning,” ADC Polumatla congratulated the participating teams and advised the players to become champion in true sense by displaying persona of great human beings moulded with an attitude to overcome every failure, whether in or out of the field.

Presenting him as game and sports fan, ADC informed that he himself was once an ardent hockey player and simultaneously, appreciated the sportsmanship spirit of the people of the district.

Acknowledging the vital role of football in uniting people, he urged all stakeholders to work with same zeal in promoting the sport and to give equal importance to every form of sporting activities, besides education, to develop one’s cognitive aptitude.

Briefing about the gist and format and objective of the tournament, APFA Secretary Kipa Ajay appreciated and congratulated the organizing committee and the East Kameng Football Association for organizing the qualifying round for zone 1 for the first time.

Highlighting about the advantages, be it in tackling drugs and anti-social activities amongst younger generation, and scope in sports in term of quota in jobs, Secretary Ajay urged all to support and promote games and sports in every aspect of one’s life.

Briefing the gathering about the policy of the State government, he informed that the govt. has rechristened the name of Football Super League recently as Indrajit Namchoom Football League in order to honour Legend Indrajit Namchoom, the first international footballer from Arunachal Pradesh.

He urged the players to play the game with true sportsmanship spirit and exhorted them to maintain discipline and follow the rules of the game.

Briefing the format of the tournament, GS (EKFA) Rajesh Singhi urged all to keep and maintain the town and ground green and clean.

Cultural display and fire crackers show were the highlights of the event.

In the first match, West Kameng trounced Tawang by 3-0 goal. East Kameng defeated Pakke Kessang by 2-1 in the second match.
